THANK YOU WITH POPPIES updated with a pic of MY DAD

My card today features one of my new stamps that I recently purchased from Chocolate Baroque, I have used both the Poppy and a leaf stamp.  I have coloured the images with Graph it Markers, mounted the image onto red card the papers are LOTV, I added a couple of red bows, buttons and a stamped 'Thank You' sentiment.
I would like to enter my card into the following challenges:

I would like to share with you a picture of my mum's dad, my grandfather, he served in France during the 1914-1918 war, he was wounded but did survive, my mum and her twin sister were born in November 1919
Every time I look at this picture I am amazed at the likeness to my brothers I can see each of them, all 5, looking back at me.

The picture below is of my dad he served the duration of WW11 in Burma, he brought home the Burma Star and many awful memories, he rarely ever mentioned his time in the war, mum did tell us that dad's best friend died in his arms, my dad was one of the lucky ones and returned home to mum only to be taken from us so unexpectedly at the young age of 57.

Many thanks for visiting.

Hi Lorraine, your card is very beautiful. I like poppies a lot.
Great picture I love old pictures like this thanks for sharing with us. My dad is busy tracking down our family history and for that he has been to the local city hall and we have documents now that give proof that our family goes back to 1655 amazing isn't it ? It's rather exceptional they said that there is real proof that goes back so far in the past.
Have a nice sunday, big hug, Veerle xx

Hi Lorraine what a lovely card. Your pictures and narrative bought tears to my eyes. I feel so much for the terrible losses to all sides in these dreadful wars. My FIL was in the Normandy landings he was wounded but one of the lucky ones that survived. Susan xx

Your card to day is so lovely, and it was a joy to see the pretty flowers (especially after all the Halloween & fall cards I've been doing!). Equally enjoyed seeing the pictures that you shared of your loved ones. I've always loved seeing old photos and your grand was quite a handsome soldier. How brave he was & likewise your father. Posthumous thanks to both of them, for serving their country in time of need. The men of earlier eras understood the need for that kind of service, I think much better than our young generation of today. However, that said, we still have many who do understand the concept of service, and we can ALL be proud of these people, regardless of our native country. All gave of themselves so that we could enjoy the lives we have today. God bless them! TFS & Big hugs.
